These pictures were sketched on site at the beautiful La Vialla in Tuscany during the autumn of 2020. They were then evolved in the studio to become these images which are made transparent by the use of linseed oil and oil paint on paper. By mounting these images with glass or acrylic on both sides, they can be viewed from either side and with light shining through, they reveal a magical element. Pictures can be hung on a wall and or in front of a window.
They capture the energy and spirit of the ancient trees growing within the 2000-acre woodland on their biodynamic and organic farm. The trees are all native to the area and include olives, from their olive groves, oaks, sweet chestnut and figs. All these trees are productive and integrated into the farm. Have a look at their website for delicious olives, chestnut and delicious fig jam.
(The crimson clover now growing on Lodge Farm was first seen on an earlier trip to La Vialla and has led to a few additional images, coming soon. Also images from their vineyard which may be helped by their delicious wine, are yet to be finished!)
